Aqualyx is an injectable deoxycholate solution used to reduce small, stubborn fat pockets for targeted body contouring.
It disrupts fat cell membranes (adipocytolysis); the body clears the released lipids via normal metabolic pathways. It is not a weight-loss treatment and is not FDA-approved in the United States.
Adults at or near a stable weight with well-defined, small to moderate fat deposits and good skin elasticity.
Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infection at the site, relevant allergies, or significant liver/kidney disease. A full medical history is required.
Typical course: 2–6 sessions per area, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Some areas may require up to ~8 sessions.
The area is cleansed. Local anaesthetic is usually used. Multiple small injections are placed into the subcutaneous fat. Treatment time is ~30–60 minutes depending on area size.
Common, temporary effects: swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness/itching, and occasional firmness or nodules; these usually settle within days.
Initial changes often appear from ~4 weeks; full results typically 8–12 weeks after the final session. Destroyed fat cells are not expected to return; maintaining a stable weight helps preserve outcomes.
Most side effects are mild and self-limited. Rare complications include infection, nerve irritation, or skin necrosis. Treatment should be performed by trained clinicians using genuine product and correct technique.
Aqualyx is used in many countries but is not FDA-approved in the US. Ensure treatment is provided in a regulated medical setting by qualified professionals.
Your clinician will assess suitability, outline expected results, and create a personalised plan including the number of sessions and intervals for each area.
